Design & Technology links

Oh, I do love a lovely list of links… Us too! Sometimes all you need is the right link to get you started, which is why we have scoured the internet using our D&T antennae to compile a comprehensive list of relevant sites for your perusal. And in a move away from tradition we have quite literally and simply given you a list – one that is neatly categorised for your ease of use, of course. Happy linking!

D&T schemes of work

Scheme Support lists a wide range of D&T schemes of work, outlining the key information for each one, including cost. The schemes explored include:

  • Kapow Primary
  • PlanBee D&T
  • Visit Website
  • Projects on a Page
  • Switched On D&T
  • Twinkl Design & Technology
General D&T teaching resources and ideas
Online D&T interactives for children
D&T videos to use in class
  • BBC Bitesize has an array of videos and activities for KS1 and KS2
  • BBC Teach also has a series of videos on KS1 and KS2 D&T including I want to design links
  • BP Educational Service has a library of videos and animations for primary D&T (select ‘video’ and ‘animations’ under format and D&T under subjects in the left hand menu) (free login required)
  • National Oak Academy has a range of lessons for KS1 and KS2. These can be used to supplement your own teaching or are particularly useful if you need your lesson covering by a supply teacher
Online D&T book lists
  • Jubilee Books has a list of D&T books for KS1 and KS2
D&T expertise and networking
  • The D&T Association (DATA) has a range of resources, guidance and CPD
  • Facebook has a D&T primary teachers group, where members discuss issues, and provide each other with support. For access, a Facebook account is required. The group is private, so you will need to request to join it
Background knowledge for teachers
  • DATA runs a range of courses for primary teachers
  • Designed for life is a podcast run by DATA which offers ‘a series of stories, chats and casual conversations with inspiring and ground-breaking creative people’
  • STEM Learning offers online CPD opportunities for teachers

Wow, that’s quite a list! But… Let me guess – we’ve missed your favourite site? If so, please let us know and we’ll add it in – the more good-quality links the merrier!
